Organized alphabetically by name, each entry includes biographical and analytical information for selected works.
Drama Criticism * [R 809.2005 D79]
Multi-volume work covering five to fifteen dramatists per volume with biographical and critical information. Cumulative author index in last volume.
Masterplots II: Drama Series [R 809.204 M39]
Organized alphabetically by title of play with Title and Author indexes in last volume. Short plot summaries and criticism; a good place to start.

Finding Books Or Audiovisual Materials In the Library Catalog

Within the college district

You can use Subject or Keyword searches to find books on your topic. The catalog uses special subject headings, which may be found in detail in: R 025.49 L61 Library of Congress Subject Headings. The catalog is accessible off campus at http://library.chemeketa.edu/information/cataloghome.php.

Electronic books are available through to Chemeketa students in a number of formats. Most are found in the library catalog.

If the material you want is not in Chemeketa's library, you can change your search from Chemeketa to "All libraries" on the search page. For information about requesting books from other CCRLS libraries, see Requesting materials from another CCRLS library. If what you want is not in the local system, you can also click the "Summit" button in the library catalog, or search Summit directly. Chemeketa employees and students taking at least one credit hour may request items in Summit and have them sent to Chemeketa, or they may set up a Visiting Patron account. If you do not find what you need in Summit, ask your local librarian to request an interlibrary loan. That way the book you need can be sent from Chemeketa or another library for you to check out and use locally.

Outside the college district

If you live outside the college district, but in Oregon or Washington, you can search in the Summit Catalog. Chemeketa employees and students taking at least one credit hour may request items in Summit and have them sent to a Summit library where thay have set up a Visiting Patron account. If you do not live near a Summit library, you can search your local library catalog, or you can search in that of Chemeketa or a third library to find material you need. You will find all these options on the catalog page. If the material you want is not in your local library, ask your local librarian to request an interlibrary loan. JSTOR
JSTOR is a digital archive of journal content. Chemeketa has the archive collections Arts & Sciences I and Arts & Sciences III, comprising about 400 journals. The collections are strong in the humanities. For best results click the Advanced Search link and check off Article under Item Type.

Available through Gale, Academic OneFile includes full text for more than thousands of scholarly periodicals covering a wide variety of topics including literature.

You can search Academic OneFile by keywords or subjects. To do a subject search for information in the database, start Academic Onefile and click on the Subject Guide Search link in the toolbar banner.

  1. Type an author's name, last name first, in the space marked "Find Subject."
  2. Then click the Go button.
  3. Click on the name in the resulting list to see the articles, or click the plus sign (+) to see more specific aspects of the subject, such as "Criticism & interpretation."

When you click a subject, a list of articles will appear. If you wish, you can use the "Refine Results" sidebar to limit your search to full electronic text. An option is also available to add a word to your search or to limit results to peer-reviewed (i.e., scholarly) journals.

The newest articles will be at the beginning of a list. To see more information about an article, click on the highlighted title. Many articles have links to full text, where you can read or print the article online. If an article has full text, you can also e-mail it to yourself.     Covers historical, social and political aspects of ancient Greece. Includes a chronology in volume I. Use the table of contents to access broad topics or the index in volume III for specifics.
  • Encyclopedia of the Ancient Greek World [R 938 Sa1]
    Relatively brief entries for a variety of topics such as religion, politics, literature, science and daily life in ancient Greece.
