What is the Oregonian?
The Oregonian on LexisNexis is a full-text database that includes local and regional news articles in the Portland newspaper from July, 1987 to present. It can be accessed at Oregonian; if you are accessing the database from outside the Chemeketa campus, you will need your My Chemeketa user name and password.
After typing in your search terms and click on the Search button.
A list of citations will be displayed. Each citation indicates the title of the article and the date on which the article appeared. Citations may be sorted by publication date (in chronological order, starting with the most current articles) or by relevance. To view the complete article with citation information such as author and page number, click once on the highlighted title of the article.
If the terms you searched for produce no results, try using other terms that may be used to describe your topic. Clicking the Go button next to "Edit search" will allow you to change your search.
Click on the title of an article to display the full text. Then click on the Print icon. Printing costs 10 cents per page in the library.
To email the article, click on the E-mail icon, then enter your e-mail address and click Send.
To download the article to a disk or travel drive, click on the Save icon, then choose the desired file format from the dropdown list. The default format is Word. Click the Download button. LexisNexis Academic will reformat the article and then show a link. Right-click on the link to save it.
The Oregonian can also be browsed by a range of dates, or by a specific date. Click on "All available dates" in the Specify date dropdown menu, and choose from the date options by clicking on one. For a specific date, click "Date is...". A menu for filling in a date will appear next to the Specify date menu. When you have chosen a date or range of dates, click the Search button.
Oregonian Sections
