How to Request Interlibrary Loan
Chemeketa students and employees may submit ILL (interlibrary loan) book and article requests. Online forms are available.

The Chemeketa Community College Library endorses the principles relating to interlibrary loan included in the Oregon Library Resource Sharing Policy, the ALA Interlibrary Loan Code, U.S. Copyright law, the U.S. Commission on New Technological Uses of Copyrighted Works (CONTU) Guidelines, and federal and state laws governing the confidentiality of records.

What types of materials are available?
The ILL department will attempt to borrow nearly anything you request. Exceptions:
- current-year books
- items available from Chemeketa
- items available from CCRLS (the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional library Service)
- physical items available from Summit (the Orbis Cascade Alliance)
- electronic items
Some items are more difficult to borrow and may take longer to arrive.

Is there a charge for ILL?
- Chemeketa Community College does not have a service charge for Interlibrary loan
services, but will pass along any fees the lending library charges - Requests for loans or photocopies will be ordered first through non-charging libraries
- If the item is not available from a free lender, and if the person requesting the item is willing, the ILL department will order the item from libraries charging a fee for loans or photocopies.

How do I place a request?
You can request articles Chemeketa doesn't have from the Primo library search.
- Be sure to log into the search
- Once you are logged in, you will see a Request from Summit Plus link for articles Chemeketa does not have.
If the DVD, book, etc., you want is not available through Summit, you can request the item by filling out the online interlibrary loan form.
Paper request forms are available at the Circulation desk. There are two request forms, one for magazine articles and the other for everything else. Please fill them out completely. Incomplete forms will cause delays in obtaining materials. The Reference desk staff will help you fill out the interlibrary loan form
For journal articles include
- your name
- your phone number
- your address
- title of journal
- title of article
- date of publication
- author of article
- page numbers of article
- source of reference (for best service attach a copy of the page where you found out about the article, for example a page from Academic OneFile database)
- maximum willing to pay (0 is fine!)
- not needed after - last date you could use the item
For books and other materials include
- your name

How long does ILL take?
Allow at least 7-10 days for interlibrary loan of physical items. Sometimes materials could take longer. Delivery time is dependent on the location of the lending library, the availability of the materials, and the shipping method used by the lending library.
Most article requests are filled electronically, and wait time is relatively short.

How long can I keep the material?
Books and other materials' loan periods are set by the lending library. The average loan period is about 3
weeks. The due date will be clearly marked on the loan.
