Interlibrary Loan Information

Chemeketa library users may request books, articles, and DVDs from other library systems via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) when the material they need is not at Chemeketa or one of our partner libraries.

Please plan on extra time for materials to be delivered from another library system.

How to Request Interlibrary Loan

Chemeketa students and employees may submit ILL (interlibrary loan) book and article requests by using an electronic form online, or by filling out a paper form at the library. Books and media will be delivered for pickup at Chemeketa's library on the Salem Campus, or at the Yamhill Valley Campus library. For questions or for more details, please see the Frequently-Asked Questions about ILL, below, ask the ILL department, or phone 503.399.5216.

Frequently Asked Questions about Interlibrary Loan

  • What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan is a service through which materials not owned by Chemeketa or its partner libraries can be ordered. (Partners include CCRLS, the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional library system, and Summit, the libraries of the Orbis Cascade Alliance.)

  • What types of materials are available?

The ILL department will attempt to borrow nearly anything you request. Exceptions:

    • current-year books
    • items available from Chemeketa
    • items available from CCRLS (the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional library Service)
    • items available from Summit (the Orbis Cascade Alliance)
    • electronic items

Some items are more difficult to borrow and may take longer to arrive.

  • Is there a charge for ILL?
    • Chemeketa Community College does not have a service charge for Interlibrary loan
services, but will pass along any fees the lending library charges
    • Requests for loans or photocopies will be ordered first through non-charging libraries
    • If the item is not available from a free lender, and if the person requesting the item is willing, the ILL department will order the item from libraries charging a fee for loans or photocopies.
  • How do I place a request?

You can request articles Chemeketa doesn't have from the Primo library search.

    • Be sure to log into the search
    • On the result screen, click "Include results with additional delivery time."

If the  DVD, book, etc., you want is not  available through Summit, you can request the item by filling out the online interlibrary loan form.

Paper request forms are available at the Circulation desk. There are two request forms, one for magazine articles and the other for everything else. Please fill them out completely. Incomplete forms will cause delays in obtaining materials. The Reference desk staff will help you fill out the interlibrary loan form
